Your bike or ours?
We supply you with a road bike or upgrade to an E-bike for: £90

Bringing your own bike?
No problem just make sure it’s in good condition and geared appropriately for the terrain. We recommend a minimum of 20 gears (a 2×10 or 2×11 drivetrain) to give you a wide enough range for climbs and long days. If you have a 1× setup, that’s okay too as long as your cassette has a wide range (e.g. 11–42T) for tackling elevation.

If you use clip-in pedals, please let us know in advance whether you’ll bring your own pedals and shoes or need us to provide a compatible setup.

To travel a valid passport is required, with at least 6 months before expiration.

Travel & health insurance is required. Please ensure your policy includes emergency medical care, trip delays or cancellations, cycling and active travel. See our section on INSURANCE for more details & useful contacts.

A visa for Montenegro isn’t required for this trip if you are a UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, or NZ citizen. Check: www.visahq.com

Montenegro uses the Euro (€) Credit cards are widely accepted, but some small villages and remote areas may only take cash.

Will we be going to altitude?
You won’t be going to high altitude, but you’ll ride through mountain terrain, with some routes reaching up to 1,900m. There’s no risk of altitude sickness, but you may well feel the effort more on climbs due to the steep gradients.

Can I bring my own bike?
Yes! Just ensure it’s in good condition and has a wide gear range for mountain climbs. If not, we offer free rental of high-quality road, or e-bikes are available for a supplement of €100.

What kind of fitness do I need?
This is a medium level route, we recommend some previous road biking experience but this is completely self guided so you go at your own pace. There’s always the optional of E-bike rental and 24/7 support if you need assistance.

What’s the terrain like?
Mostly quiet mountain roads, with climbs, sweeping descents, and spectacular views. Surfaces are paved but can be rough in remote areas.

Will I have phone signal/Wi-Fi?
Phone signals are generally good, but expect patchy coverage in remote areas. Most accommodations offer Wi-Fi.

Can I do laundry?
Some accommodations offer laundry service or facilities. We recommend bringing quick-dry clothing and a small supply of detergent for hand-washing.

What if I get tired or injured?
There’s a support team on hand 24/7, in case of injury, our team is first-aid trained and equipped to assist. If necessary, we’ll promptly get you to the nearest medical facility.

Can I charge devices during the day?
We recommend taking a lightweight power pack with you so you can recharge devices en route as needed.

Do we need to tip?
Tipping isn’t mandatory in Montenegro but small tips in cafés or restaurants (rounding up or ~10%) are always welcomed. For local guides and support staff, a tip at the end of the trip will be much appreciated depending on your satisfaction.

Is English widely spoken there?
The official language spoken in Montenegro is Montenegrin. However English is widely spoken, especially by younger people and in hospitality or guiding roles (like Jelena!). However, learning a few local phrases is always appreciated:
Hello – Zdravo
Thank you – Hvala
Please – Molim
Yes / No – Da / Ne
